The front door, a solid piece of dark wood, has been adorned with a new retractable door screen with a woodgrain finish that blends so seamlessly that Judy didn’t even realize the installation was complete when she drove up from work.

“You didn’t even realize it was there, it blends in so well,” she says, sitting in their custom-built home.

“Just the name Phantom, it tells you right there. You don’t even know that they’re there.” Her husband, Jeff, laughs.

“The plan is to spend more time out here later into the year. This new screened patio space is needed. “There are times when we have twenty-five to thirty people here, and you just want everybody to be in the same room,” Judy explains. With four grandkids, space is of the essence for this growing family and these proud grandparents who love to host and entertain.

Judy offers us a cinnamon bun that you’re not allowed to say no to (you wouldn’t want to; I’m still thinking about them). It makes the whole space feel inviting and warm. The doors are open, and the breeze trickles in, and through the large living room window, you can see the iconic Mount Cheam. At this moment, it’s easy to see why their home is the best stop for all their hosting. 

“We’ve moved around to a few different places. But this is the place we plan to stay at till we can’t stay here anymore.” Jeff and Judy tell us. “We always come back here, and we always say, you know what, nothing beats living here. This is home.”
